Confessions of a Slug

Okay, here goes: I did yoga, once, last week.

And that’s the extent of my physical exercise. I feel like a slug! Although I’m very tempted to curl up and take a nap next to my cat, I’ve decided to try to be a little more proactive about this. Originally, my plan was to do yoga every other day, and run with my husband on the other days. Perhaps this was too ambitious… So I’m going to scale it back a little, and slowly increase the amount I exercise.

So here’s the plan: Tomorrow I will do a hip-hop dance DVD after work. It’s been a looong time since I’ve done it, but I remember it was so much fun that I hardly noticed when I was dripping with sweat and totally out of breath. The next two days after that are freebies because I’ll be working late and on my feet all day. Friday I’ll do yoga. This Sunday I’m going to do a little hiking with some friends!

I’m not trying to lose weight; I just want to maintain. And I really want to improve my cardiovascular health. Let’s see if I stick to this week’s goals better!

I’ve been looking for a workout I can do very easily at home. I do have a plan to get more into yoga but my fingers and toes are always in and out of pain… I guess the more I make yoga apart of my lifestyle – the more ill feel the effects of yoga in my life. Don’t feel like a slug though! I admire your goals and am behind you 100%! Lupus has been a roller coaster ride for me – but I like knowing I’m not alone out there.
I look forward to reading more!

Yeah I’ve noticed that the more I do it, the more flexible I am–and it always feels good to stretch, even when I’m feeling pretty stiff. You might like some of these yoga DVDs: The Firm Slim Solutions Yoga Workout (most of it’s pretty easy, so it’s good when you’re starting out), and 5 Day Fit Yoga from Gaiam (it’s got 5 different workouts on it by 2 different teachers).

Thank you so much for your support! It’s nice to know you’re out there.
